Artist's Comments

This piece was done on 9x12 black drawing paper. I used Pastel Pencils, but the paper did not absorb the media well, so I switched to Nupastels and Rembrant Chalk Pastels. I preferred the Rembrants, they worked very well.

I tried to use Prisma Color Art Sticks, but they are too hard for the type of paper.

I prefer Nupastels, but in this case, Rembrants worked far smoother and applied easier, with blending that can cover large areas.

Yeah, it's a Native American piece that represents 'Bird Singers', a local tradition using Gord Rattles

Yes, local to my area... I was and probably still am a 'Bird Singer'...

Once one, I guess I'll always be one. I draw them often, remember the songs still (some of them) and pretty much everyone I know sings.
